Risk Assesment Program

Current medical knowledge says that most breast cancers are not associated with family history. In other words they arise “out of the blue”.

However, one’s cancer risk is increased with either a prior personal history of cancer or when close family members have cancer.

Patients with prior high-risk lesions including lobular carcinoma in situ, atypical ductal hyperplasia or atypical lobular hyperplasia need close and careful follow up.

A certain sizeable percentage of breast cancers are related to family history and we take a detailed family history to determine if you need genetic screening.

Please remember that new genetic markers are found every year and it may be prudent to repeat genetic screening periodically.

Our high-risk breast cancer monitoring program will assess your breast cancer risk and will work with you and your referring provider to determine the best screening and risk reduction for you.

Our risk assessment program is individualized and provides you an opportunity for education, genetic counseling with testing, personalized screening and risk reduction recommendations with referrals and access to clinical trials.
